This Sunday 25 April join us for a first-ever annual Twilight Anzac celebration, a free family-friendly community event with market stalls; food trucks; a fully licenced bar; a traditional hangi (pre-orders essential to avoid missing out) and a unique Twilight commemoration entertainment program.

The unique Twilight program includes:

  • Welcome to country to all visitors to our lands by traditional Aboriginal land owners
  • Free cultural dance and live entertainment by Maori and Aboriginal cultural groups
  • Chris Tamwoy, Australia’s Got Talent, joined by Victoria Tamaki and Eugene Kanoa
  • Lowering of the four flags at the setting of the sun
  • Special remembrances by returned service men and women
  • Unique next generation ceremony
  • Movie vignettes in theatre

The event is located inside the Beenleigh Historical Village with plenty of free parking on-street.  Gates open from 2pm with market stalls, bar and food trucks.  Hangi plates ready at 5pm.  Twilight entertainment program at 6pm (or at the setting of the sun). This is a free event with a gold coin donation appreciated for the not-for-profit Beenleigh Historical Village, where the event is located.  As a COVID safe event, pre-booking is essential, along with pre-booking the hangi plate to avoid disappointment.  On the day, guests and staff will be kept safe through physical distancing, masks, hand sanitising, and advanced cleaning and disinfecting, along with QR code for contact tracing through the Queensland Check-in app.

This first-ever Twilight ANZAC Day celebration is a unique way for our communities to come together and honour the sacrifices of these men and women and how all cultures came together to defend our great nations.   Uncle Eddie Ruska, Cultural Elder of Yugambeh and Co-founder for Spirits of the Red Sand says “Events like this bring about a spirit of community, of love, of tolerance and acceptance for all, uniting us in our efforts to honour these brave men and women.”
