BEENLEIGH, QUEENSLAND – Today – Spirits of the Red Sand today announced it is hosting Australia’s third annual NAIDOC Wild foods and Cultural festival as part of NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) on Sunday 3 July, 2022 from 11am-7pm at Spirits of the Red Sand’s home – 205 Main Street, Beenleigh, Queensland. NAIDOC celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the festival itself will be a celebration of cultural entertainment, demonstrations, market stalls, well-known musicians and performers as well as an opportunity to try a variety of in-season wild-foods.
According to Spirits of the Red Sand’s cultural Elder and co-founder, Uncle Eddie Ruska, the festival’s top priority is to share 60,000 years of culture. “Sharing our culture is at the heart of who we are, and inviting our community to experience our culture is a huge part of why we host this free community event.” Ruska stated.
The festival is free entry, although a gold coin donation is appreciated to support the historical village non-profit stay open. Food prices and tastings vary. You may want to bring cash as some market stall operators and tastings may not accept card.
